“How do we want the European banking sector to look in 10 years?” EBI Global Annual Conference on Banking Regulation Frankfurt, 21 February 2019
(Please check against delivery)
Dear all,
Joaquín Almunia was appointed today as high-level independent evaluator of the financial assistance to Greece. He was appointed upon nomination by the Chairman of the ESM Board of Governors, Mário Centeno, in cooperation with the ESM Managing Director, Klaus Regling, and in consultation with the 19 ESM Members. Mr. Almunia is a former Vice President of the European Commission.
The European Financial Stability Facility (EFSF) completed its first-quarter funding needs on Tuesday, raising €4.5 billion in a dual-tranche transaction.
“We used the good market conditions to raise the remaining €4.5 billion for the EFSF in Q1 2019. Our new 5-year bond was a successful response to strong investor demand in this maturity, as shown by the order book of over €8 billion. At the same time we provided additional liquidity at the long end by tapping the 2043 bond”, said Siegfried Ruhl, EFSF Head of Funding and Investor Relations.
