The ESM Treaty describes the rules for the ESM Managing Director’s appointment. The relevant Treaty provisions are Article 5 on the ESM Board of Governors and Article 7 on the Managing Director.

2.    Who appoints the ESM Managing Director?

ESM Chief Economist Rolf Strauch will participate in the 5th Interdisciplinary Sovereign Debt Research and Management Conference (DebtCon), organised by the European University Institute in Florence. 

He will be the moderator of a roundtable "Debt overhang in the new monetary and global relations context” with Elena Duggar (Moody’s), Lorenzo Codogno (LSE/College of Europe), and Harald Hirschhofer (TCX).
