ESM appoints Nicoletta Mascher Head of Banking

Luxembourg – The European Stability Mechanism (ESM) has appointed Nicoletta Mascher to the position of Head of Banking.
Ms Mascher previously held managerial positions at the ECB’s Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM) and the Bank of Italy. She also worked in the private sector as a financial analyst.
She is a graduate of Luigi Bocconi University of Milan, where she received a Master’s degree in economics. Ms Mascher also studied financial market theory and financial mathematics. She is a chartered accountant and auditor.
ESM Managing Director Klaus Regling said: "I am very pleased that Nicoletta Mascher has joined the ESM’s Banking team. With her expertise in banking supervision, economics and accounting, Ms Mascher will be an experienced and inspiring leader. The Banking team plays an important role in analysing banking systems and contributing to banking crisis resolution.”
