Anabela Reis
Anabela Reis is Deputy Head of Communications and Deputy Chief Spokesperson at the European Stability Mechanism (ESM). In this role, she supports the Head of Communications in the management and coordination of the Communications team.
As Deputy Chief Spokesperson, she manages media relations, with a particular focus on former programme countries and Italy. She coordinates and oversees highā€‘profile interviews, media engagements and social media strategy, ensuring messaging is aligned with institutional goals and reputational considerations across channels, both externally and internally.
She joined the ESM in 2018 as a Senior Spokesperson and served as Acting Head of Communications for nine months in 2021. Previously, Anabela Reis was an economic journalist at Bloomberg News. She holds a degree in International Relations from the University of Minho, Portugal, and studied International Relations and European Studies at the Institute of Social and Political Sciences in Lisbon. Her academic background is complemented by executive training in leadership, strategic communication and economics for policymakers.
