ESM appoints Leticia Lucas as Head of Internal Audit

Luxembourg – The European Stability Mechanism (ESM) has appointed Leticia Lucas to the position of Head of Internal Audit. For the past two years, Ms Lucas has been senior internal auditor at the ESM. By creating a Head of Internal Audit position, the ESM recognises the importance of this function for the control framework of the institution.

Ms Lucas, a Luxembourgish and Brazilian citizen, joined the ESM as senior internal auditor in July 2013 and recently became a member of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Internal Auditors in Luxembourg. Previously, she held internal audit positions at Allianz Global Investors AG and PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Her studies include an MBA at Warwick University and a Master in Corporate Finance at the Institut d’études politiques de Strasbourg.

Klaus Regling, ESM’s Managing Director said: "As the ESM continues to mature, we’ve decided to strengthen the internal audit role in the ESM structure by creating the Head of Internal Audit position. I am very happy that Leticia Lucas has accepted the role. We attach great importance to Internal Audit at the ESM as it helps us to constantly evaluate and improve the effectiveness of our internal processes such as governance, risk, and control”.
