Social Media Communication Officer (temporary/interim)

Job description

Deadline for application: 9 March 2026. The European Stability Mechanism (ESM) is looking for a Social Media Communication Officer to temporarily support its social media strategy. The position involves close collaboration with social media and internal communication team members, as well as speechwriters, to ensure consistent and effective communication.

The selected candidate will have a strong background in social media content creation and management, and good knowledge about the ESM’s mandate and activities. S/he will report to the Head of Communication/Chief Spokesperson and will work as part of the Communications team.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage and contribute content to social media content calendar.
  • Work closely with team members to keep content calendar up to date, ensuring accuracy.
  • Create content for recurring communication products.
  • Create monthly social media analytics reports.
  • Create regular social media listening reports, using specialised social media listening platform.
  • Provide support for content creation on ongoing campaigns.
  • Provide support for development of existing social media AI Agent project(s).

 

Key Background & Experience

  • Master’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related field. A background in economics, finance, international relations, or European Policy is a plus.
  • Minimum five years of experience in external communication, expertise in social media content production, managing digital channels or a similar role.
  • Experience working in an EU institution, an International Financial Institution (IFI), and/or a creative agency would be an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of social media and content marketing.
  • Solid expertise in analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; other euro area languages would be a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint or other comparable tools.
  • Proficiency in social media listening platforms, such as Meltwater or similar platforms.
  • Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Canva is considered an asset.

  • Contractual terms: Non-ESM staff (assignment contract through a temporary agency)
  • Contract duration: six months, with possibility of extension up to one year in total 
  • Note: Modalities of this non-ESM staff contract will be discussed directly with the candidate
  • Place of employment: Luxembourg 
  • Current working arrangements: possibility to work remotely, usually up to two days a week, from Luxembourg and the border region (or from further away under certain conditions)
