Traineeship - Digital Innovation (AI Focus)

Job description

The ESM is looking for a motivated trainee to support the Business Strategy and Project Management (BSPM) division with advancing adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) within the institution. The selected trainee will assist in promoting and enhancing the use of AI tools. The integration of cutting-edge technology is a cornerstone of the ESM’s strategy to remain responsive to evolving challenges and proactively positioned to harness future opportunities. The ESM uses AI to optimise its processes, further increase operational efficiency, and enhance the quality of deliverables through data-driven methods. The ESM is committed to using AI responsibly and ethically.

The trainee will join the Business Strategy and Project Management (BSPM) division within the Chief Operating Officer (COO) Department. The COO Department is pivotal to the smooth functioning of the ESM, ensuring operational efficiency across the organization. It leads on organisational transformation, digitalisation, and the implementation of cutting-edge technologies to support the ESM’s strategic objectives. 

The BSPM division is dedicated to enabling the ESM to reach its strategic goals by improving organisational performance and realising organisational change. It serves as a catalyst for digital transformation, helping the institution remain at the forefront of innovation in the international financial sector. This includes, in particular, fostering the adoption of new technologies, and empowering staff to leverage digital tools—especially artificial intelligence (AI)—to enhance decision-making and efficiency. 

 

Purpose of this traineeship 

  • Support the organisation of an internal AI-focused event to engage staff and showcase innovative projects.
  • Assist in promoting and enhancing the use of AI tools and systems within the organisation, including through the organisation of sharing sessions.
  • Facilitate communities of interest, e.g. on AI development, by organising regular meetings and promoting the communities internally, encouraging more colleagues to join. 
  • Join BSPM staff in exchanges and discussions with counterparts in other International Financial Institutions to share knowledge and best practices, and make internal communities benefit from those learnings.

 

Key Background 

  • A candidate (or recent graduate within one year of graduation) for a Bachelor or Master’s degree in the field of Business Administration, Digital Innovation, Computer Science or other discipline related to the activities mentioned above. A track record in an international and multicultural environment would be an asset.
  • Strong interest in AI, digital transformation, and process improvement. Familiarity with using GenAI tools and agents, would be an asset.
  • Interest in coordinating projects and/or organising events.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and oral.

Application process and practical information

  • Expected start date: as soon as possible 
  • Expected duration: 6 months, with the option to extend for another six months.
  • Competitive allowance granted. 
  • Place of the traineeship: Luxembourg.  
  • Current working arrangements: possibility to work remotely, normally up to two days a week, from Luxembourg and the border region (or from further away under certain conditions).
