Sinem Yağmur Toraman

Economist, Economic Risk Analysis

Sinem Yağmur Toraman is an Economist in the Economic Risk Analysis division at the European Stability Mechanism (ESM) since September 2025.

Prior to joining the ESM, she completed her PhD in Economics at Johns Hopkins University in August 2025. During her PhD studies, she spent time as a Dissertation Fellow at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in Washington, DC, within the International Financial Stability Section, and participated in the PhD Internship Programme at the Hong Kong Institute for Monetary and Financial Research.

She holds an MA in Economics from Johns Hopkins University and BS in Economics from Middle East Technical University.

Her main research interests lie in international finance, macrofinance and macroeconomics, with a particular focus on the macroeconomic and financial implications of unconventional monetary policies, drivers of exchange rate dynamics, international capital flows and sovereign credit risk.
