Darius Trakelis

Darius Trakelis has served as Director of the European Union and International Affairs Department at the Ministry of Finance of Lithuania since June 2014. From 2009 to 2014, he was Attaché for Structural Policy at the Permanent Representation of Lithuania to the European Union in Brussels. Between 2001 and 2009, Mr. Trakelis held various positions in the EU Cohesion Policy Division at the Ministry of Finance, serving as Desk Officer, Deputy Head and Head of Division.
Since March 2025, Mr. Trakelis has been a full member of the Economic and Financial Committee (EFC). He is also a Member of the Administrative Council of the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB) and an Alternate Director at the Board of Directors of the European Investment Bank (EIB).
Mr. Trakelis holds a PhD in Political Science from the Institute of International Relations and Political Science of Vilnius University. He also holds Master's and Bachelor's degrees in Political Science (European Studies) from the same institution.
