Keynote speech on, "25 Years of Maastrict Treaty - The Future of EMU"
The Treaty of Maastricht laid the basis for the creation of the European Economic and Monetary Union in 1992. 25 years later and against the backdrop of the global financial crisis of 2008/09, fundamental questions on the stabilization of the euro and the banking system still remain. Current foci concern the ideas to create a 'fiscal capacity' for the euro as well as a European Deposit Insurance Scheme. Disagreement prevails in the question of how far a communitarisation of risks should go. This conference will deal with this controversy discussion.
